Tsaghkadzor Open kicked off

The opening ceremony of the 2nd Tsaghkadzor Open International Chess Tournament took place in Tsaghkadzor on October 20, 2018.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of the Mayor of Tsaghkadzor Artur Harutyunyan, the first vice-president of the Armenian Chess Federation, the Founder and President of the Chess Academy of Armenia Smbat Lputian, general sponsor of the tournament Armen Unanyan, a number of honorable guests and chess players. Mr. Harutyunyan, Mr. Lputian and Mr. Unanyan delivered speeches welcoming the chess players and congratulating all people present in the ceremony on the occasion of this great event. 

After the official part of the ceremony the drawing of lots took place where the top seed of the tournament current Armenian Men's Champion, Member of Armenian National Chess Team, GM Haik Martirosyan chose the black for himself for the first game.

This year Tsaghkadzor Open will be held in 4 different groups. About 150 chess players representing 6 countries are going to compete for the title of the winner of Tsaghkadzor Open. 

Right after the opening ceremony the first matches of the tournament kick off.
